Erika Mathews (Tahoe/Carson Valley)
Owner and operator of Moxy Fitness, Erika was raised in Lake Tahoe where she developed her love of the outdoors and a passion for health and fitness. Erika has a strong background in exercise physiology, holds a Fitness Nutritionist Certification from NESTA, and is a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer from The American Council on Exercise.

In her spare time Erika can be found enjoying the company of her husband, their two children and their two Golden Retrievers.

Melanie Garcia (Tahoe/Carson Valley)
Seeing that three of the four trainers at Moxy are sisters (and the fourth trainer might as well be a sister too!), it goes without saying that being raised in the Sierra Nevada Mountains is conducive with being passionate about the outdoor lifestyle. Melanie has been a NESTA Certified Fitness Trainer since 2004 and is CPR and AED certified from the Red Cross. Melanie is the CEO of Moxy Fitness and produces the Annual “Solstice Scramble” Trail Run.

Melanie spends her free time mountain biking, road biking, snowboarding and trail running with her two Golden Retrievers, Tucker and Owen. She competes in mountain bike races, adventure races and trail running events.

Sarah Garcia (Tahoe)
The youngest of the three sisters, Sarah first found her love of fitness while attending Sacramento State University. It was there that she trained with ‘Team in Training’ for her first Century Ride (100 miles). Since then she enjoys competing in road rides of any distance, as well as trail running and snowshoeing.

Sarah is a NESTA Certified Fitness Trainer, holds a child development degree from Sacramento State University and also holds a nursing degree from Western Nevada. She is currently looking to do her post graduate work at UCSF in the Pediatric ICU.

Robin Rogers (Tahoe)
If Robin were one of the Moxy Sisters, she would be the oldest sister!! (But not the bossiest, that’s Erika’s job!). Robin moved to Tahoe in 1999 and had never lifted a weight or run a mile before she found her “Moxy”. She was hooked at once and became a NESTA Certified Fitness Trainer in 2004. She has worked for Moxy ever since.

When Robin isn’t leading a Moxy Class, she is either teaching piano to students of all ages, cross country skiing, snowshoeing or ski-jorning with her giant, loveable malamute, Nia.

Sienna Sager (Carson Valley)
Born with hiking boots on her feet, Sienna comes from a family of outdoor enthusiasts. She moved to Nevada for her first time in 1995 and she instantly fell in love with the wide-open spaces and stunning panorama Her favorite things in the world to do are to run in the desert at dusk, or climb a mountain.

She became a certified yoga instructor while living in Charleston South Carolina, she is also a graduate of Yosemite’s Junior Ranger program both in 1985 and 1986, and holds a degree in Psychology at the University of Nevada Reno. In 2007 she became a Wilderness First Responder through the Wilderness Medicine Institute and National Outdoor Leadership School, and is currently working towards becoming a member of Douglas County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue.

Jenny Cochran (Carson Valley)
Jenny was raised in the Bay Area where she paid her way through high school and college teaching several different aerobic classes. Jenny has taught people from ages 12 to 90 and learned a lot from all age groups. Jenny holds a Group Fitness Instructor license from The American Council on Exercise and a Yoga and Pilates Certification from AFAA. In her spare time (what is that?) Jenny can be found chasing and driving her three children (3, 6 and 8) around the Valley and doing as much Yoga in between as possible.

Biggest Athletic Accomplishment: Finishing the San Francisco Marathon and walking 6 miles back to find my car!


Nikki Warren (Carson Valley)
Nikki moved to the mountains with her family in 1989 and instantly fell in love with Lake Tahoe and all it has to offer.  In 19 years of living at the lake she has coached  soccer, basketball, softball, track and gymnastics. She owns and operates Tumbleweeds Gymnastics and Tahoe Kids Camp, overseeing 40+ recreational and competitive gymnastics classes. In her spare time she loves to train with the Moxy girls, spend time with her family, snowboard and ride her bike.

Nikki's certifications include: Nesta Personal Training Certified; CPR and Advanced First Aid; Safety Certified USAG; KAT & MELPED Certified!

Megan Waskiewicz (Carson Valley)
Megan and her family moved to the Carson Valley in December, 2007, from South Lake Tahoe and really enjoy the wide open spaces, the “Big Sky” view and gardening in the summer. She loves the outdoors and fresh air. “I’ve been a runner for years, having competed in high school and college” Megan claims, which has been her foundation of fitness. This has led Megan to successful results in Triathlon competition the past ten years. Megan has a double major in Business Management and Recreation with a minor in Kinesiology from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado. The previous three years Megan has also been busy as a new mom with her three girls. In her spare time Megan partners with her husband Christian in running the family business, Alpen Sierra Coffee Roasting Company.

Jeanne Whited (Carson Valley)
Moved to Nevada 20 years ago and began a career in health, fitness and food. Introduced all three of her girls to the outdoors by taking them everywhere she went. Loves to cook, eat and entertain. Proclaimed self taught Know-it-all.

She has various certifications, (small group conditioning by SCW, aqua fitness by HYDROFit, cardio-kickboxing by W.A.I.K.I. and cardio fitness from ACE). She has coached for Diamond Peak ski team and Pop Warner Cheer.

Hidden Talent: Can still do the splits.
Little known fact: Owned and operated an Irish Pub near Chicago, IL


Judi Igoe (Tahoe)
After paying her dues for several years as a Moxy Girl, Judi joined our team of trainers in January 2008. She is a NESTA Certified Personal Trainer and has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology.

Judi has lived in Tahoe since 1997. Her favorite pastimes include camping with her husband and trail running with her dog.
